Welcome to the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies Global E-Government for Development Conference 2006 - a unique multifaceted learning event for Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) professionals, policy makers and government staff involved in providing solutions for a better governance and improvement of public services delivery. Maryland is a leading state in the use of technology and E-Governance, and home to many successful ICT corporations and professionals.

The Conference will discuss strategies and present cases of leading edge expertise and technology solutions that are driving government online solutions all around the world, and inaugurate the CDIG- Center for Digital International Government at UMIACS, as a focal point for institutions, corporations and NGOs looking for advices, technical consultation, exchange of experiences, proof of concept, as well as research and innovation in several areas.

Directions to the Computer Science Instructional Center (CSIC) and Parking Infomation

By car from points north, south, or east, take I-95 ( called the Washington Beltway) to Exit 25, Route 1 South. Proceed about 2 miles and turn right onto Campus Drive.

By car from points west, take I-495 ( also called the Washington Beltway ) to Exit 25, Route 1 south. Proceed about 2 miles and turn right onto Campus Drive.

By car from campus drive, make your first right onto Paint Branch Drive. Take a left into the Paint Branch Parking Lot. The CSIC building will be past the Jeong Kim Engineering building, the across the street and to the right of the A.V. Williams Building. (Please consult the bulding map below) UMIACS will validate the pink parking ticket. *Please do not park in lot XX as that is a staff/faculty lot*

By train, take Amtrak into the Washington Metropolitan area. The closest station to the University is New Carrollton. From there you will need to take a taxi to the campus (cost about $15.00). If you arrive at Union Station in Washington D.C. you may take the Metrorail (http://www.wmata.com/metrorail/systemmap.cfm) to College Park. Take the Red line (towards Wheaton) to Fort Totten; change to the Green line (towards Greenbelt) to the College Park, University of Maryland Station. The station is about a mile walk to the south side of campus.

By airplane to Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) is located approximately 25 miles north of the University. Driving time is approximately 35 minutes. Ground transportation to College Park is available by van, taxi or shuttle bus to the Greenbelt Metro station; this is one exit from the College Park Station. Shuttle bus is appoximately $2.00. Super Shuttle provides van service (discounts for more than one person travelling together). See their Web site for more information. Taxi service will cost approximately $35.00

By airplane to Washington National Airport (National) is located in Arlington, Virginia and about 15 miles from College Park. Travel can be slow through downtown Washington, D.C. during rush hours; approximate non-rush hour driving time is 40 minutes. You can take the Metrorail from the airport. Take the yellow line toward Mt. Vernon Square and get off at L'Enfant Plaza, then transfer to the green line (towards Greenbelt). Get off at College Park, University of Maryland Station. There is shuttle service to the University. Taxi service directly from the airport is approximately $40.00.

By airplane to Dulles International Airport (IAD) is located near Herndon, Virginia and is about 35 miles from College Park. Driving time is approximately one hour. Taxi service will cost approximately $55.00 Bus service is available to take you to the West Falls Church Metrorail where you may take Metro's Orange line toward New Carrollton. Transfer at L'Enfant Plaza to the Green line (towards Greenbelt). Get off at College Park, University of Maryland Station.
